Security updates released for Apple products
Security updates have recently been released for various Apple products to mitigate two vulnerabilities which could leave systems open to cyber attacks. Use this guidance to learn more about the vulnerabilities, if you’re affected, and what you need to do.
About these updates
Apple have brought out security updates this week to patch two vulnerabilities across iOS, iPadOS and macOS Monterey.
Both of these vulnerabilities are known as zero-days, which mean that both vulnerabilities were available to exploit without any patches to mitigate them. Apple have now released these fixes which can be seen below.
Who is affected?
These security updates are available on the following devices and applications:
- iPhone 6S and newer
- All models of iPad Pro
- iPad Air version 2 and newer
- iPad starting with 5th generation
- iPad mini starting with 4th generation
- iPod touch starting with 7th generation
- macOS Monterey

What you need to do
Apple has released security updates to address multiple vulnerabilities. We have alerted those in an IT support role at the University who may have already been in touch.
If you own any of the devices or use any of the applications listed above, update them as soon as possible.
