Updates released for multiple Apple devices
Security updates have recently been released for various Apple products to mitigate multiple vulnerabilities which could leave systems open to cyber attacks. Use this guidance to learn more about the vulnerabilities, if you’re affected, and what you need to do.
About these updates
Apple have brought out security updates to patch multiple vulnerabilities across iOS and iPadOS, macOS Big Sur and Monterey as well as tvOS and watchOS.
One of the vulnerabilities found in iOS and iPadOS is known as a zero-day, which means that the vulnerability was available to exploit without any patches to mitigate it. Apple have now released fixes which can be seen below.
Who is affected?
These security updates are available on the following devices and applications:
- iPhone 6S and newer
- All models of iPad Pro
- iPad Air version 2 and newer
- iPad starting with 5th generation
- iPad mini starting with 4th generation
- iPod touch starting with 7th generation
- macOS Monterey
- macOS Big Sur
- tvOS
- watchOS

What you need to do
Apple has released security updates to address multiple vulnerabilities. We have alerted those in an IT support role at the University who may have already been in touch.
If you own any of the devices or use any of the applications listed above, update them as soon as possible.
