September roundup
In September, our IT Services team handled 8,423 support queries. That’s 300 more than last year!
This reflects the exciting start-of-term period, during which we supported new and returning students in getting connected and equipped with the technology they need.
We’ve pulled together a series of images and videos to provide a snapshot of our busiest month.
1. Behind the scenes of the opening ceremonies
During the opening ceremonies, our IT/AV team monitor and control the livestream. They are responsible for controlling audio levels and camera feeds to ensure viewers have a smooth experience.

2. Taking over the University Instagram
Our Digital Workplace Apprentice, Monica, featured on the University Instagram to ask IT colleagues about their top tech tips for students. From getting the eduroam app to using Web Print, the video had over 49,200 views and featured a live Q&A with students.

3. Helping students in the Gateway Building
Our IT Service Desk team relocated to the Gateway Building during Orientation week to assist students attending the matriculation event.

4. New eduroam posters to brighten up our queue space
We logged over 1699 help queries about eduroam and it’s always our top query in September. In preparation, we created additional eduroam resources for the Main Library to help students connected while they waited in the queue.

5. Welcoming new staff at Lower College Hall
Our Business Relationship Management team attended the new staff inductions in Lower College Hall to help welcome new staff to the University. Our three new apprentices, Ornob, Kier, and Monica were in attendance this year.

6. IT Service Desk in action the Main Library
Additional IT staff members headed to the Main Library to help students with their IT queries during Orientation week.

7. Getting our gamers online
We introduced resnet, a new wifi network in Halls of Residences. The new service offers students a ‘home broadband’ like experience when connecting their gaming consoles and other recreational tech and saw over 400 connections during Orientation week.

7. New semester, new printers
Over the summer, we replaced all Xerox printers with new Ricoh models. To help students and staff get started, our printing supplier joined Library tours during Orientation Week, giving live demos and support to over 900 students.

8. 5000 ID cards later
As we begin printing student ID cards in August, we’ve compiled the stats from August and September to showcase our hardworking Campus Card Services team. Over the two months, the team printed and distributed 5,367 ID cards to students.
